Volume and price

Ten cartons, or the whole pallet

Chilli is a market crop and the rate moves week to week. We quote against the day you order rather than publishing a number that is stale by the time you read it.

A full pallet, strapped and corner boarded, straight onto refrigerated freight.

Weights shown are on our standard 6 kg carton. Thai chilli packs to 7 kg, so a Thai pallet is heavier. Every variety page carries its own figures.

Refrigerated interstate freight

Cut for your order, not pulled from a cold room

Cartons are picked and packed against the order in front of them, then go straight onto refrigerated interstate freight. Nothing sits waiting for a full load to build.

Orders are picked and packed to a schedule rather than held in stock, and we confirm the pick and dispatch date with you before invoicing.

Who we pack for

Restaurants and cafes

Ten cartons on a standing weekly or fortnightly order. No account application and no paperwork to get started.

Sauce makers and manufacturers

Consistent varieties in volume, with contract growing available if you need the same fruit every season.

Wholesalers and market agents

Pallet lots graded and strapped, picked to your specification and loaded straight onto interstate freight.

Grocers and fruit shops

Presentation grade fruit in repeat mid size orders, packed the morning it leaves the shed.

Direct from the grower

One shed, one set of hands

We grow it, we pick it and we pack it. There is no agent in the middle marking it up, and no third party warehouse it sits in on the way to you. When you ring about an order, you are talking to the people who put it in the carton.

From enquiry to delivery

How ordering works

It is a request for a quote, not a shopping cart. Nothing is priced on this website and nothing is charged on it, at any point.

  1. Choose variety and cartons

Pick a line and say how many cartons you want. Minimum ten of a line, up to a full pallet.

  2. Send the request

Nothing is charged and nothing is committed. You are asking us to price it, not paying for it.

  3. We quote it

The rate for the fruit on the day, the freight against your postcode and GST, plus a pick date.

  4. You say yes, we invoice

Only once you are happy with the quote. Payment terms are on the invoice.

  5. Picked, packed, dispatched

Cut for your order, graded, packed and loaded onto refrigerated freight.

Before you order

Questions buyers ask

If the answer you need is not here, ask. We would rather sort it out before the order than after it.

Are you a grower or a wholesaler?

A grower. The chillies are grown, picked and packed on our own farm at Airdmillan, near Ayr in the Burdekin, and sold direct to wholesalers, markets, restaurants and manufacturers rather than through an agent.

Why are there no prices on the site?

Because a published price would be wrong. Chilli is a market crop and the rate moves week to week with the season, the weather and the volume available, so any figure printed on a website is stale within a fortnight. We quote against the day you order instead. Send us the varieties and carton counts and you get a rate, the freight to your postcode and a pick date, usually in the one reply.

How do I get a price?

Build a request on the site: pick a variety, say how many cartons, and send it with your delivery address. Or just ring or email and tell us what you need. Either way nothing is charged and nothing is committed until you have a quote in front of you and you have said yes to it.

What is the minimum order?

10 cartons of one variety. We do not break a run below that. On our standard 6 kg carton that is 60 kg. The exception is Thai Chilli at 7 kg.

How much is in a carton?

A carton holds 6 kg net. The exception is Thai Chilli at 7 kg. A full pallet is 133 cartons. Every variety page shows the weight for that line at the minimum and at a pallet.

Does a quote include GST and freight?

It shows all three separately: the fruit, the freight to your address, and GST. Nothing is bundled into a single figure you cannot check.

How is freight priced?

Per order, against your address. Transit time and cost depend far more on your postcode than on your state, so publishing a flat rate would be wrong for most buyers. We quote it with the fruit, before anything is invoiced.

Where do you deliver?

Every state and territory in Australia, on refrigerated interstate freight. Transit time varies a lot by postcode, so tell us where it is going and we will be straight with you about how the fruit will travel.

Can I order more than one variety?

Yes. The minimum of 10 cartons applies per variety, so a mixed order needs at least that many of each line. Everything ships together on the one consignment and is quoted as one job.

How does payment work?

Nothing is charged on this website and there is no card form on it. You send a request, we quote, you confirm, then we invoice you. You pay the invoice.

Is the fruit available all year?

Availability moves with the season and is shown on each variety page. If a line is tight we will tell you when we quote it, not after you have committed.

What if produce arrives damaged?

Take photographs on arrival and contact us within 24 hours of delivery. Fresh produce passes through hands that are not ours and occasionally a carton turns up in a state we would not have sent it in. See the produce claims page for how that is handled.

Do you grow to contract?

Yes. If you need the same variety in the same volume every season, that is worth a conversation well before planting rather than after. Send a bulk enquiry with the volume and the window.

Need a pallet, or the same fruit every season?

Tell us the variety, the volume and the window. We will come back with a price and what we can commit to.
